Melanie McCabe
Melanie McCabe – Judges Houses
We have loved this pretty teenager right from the start of her X Factor journey. She originally auditioned as part of the 2010 show but was not put through because of her young age and lack of experience. She came back stronger this year and was determined to do well.
We saw her sail through previous rounds to judges houses, which saw her mentored by Kelly Rowland. The girls were whisked off to Miami this year and were joined by previous American Idol finalist Jennifer Hudson.
However sadly her 2011 X Factor journey ended there as she was not picked to be part of the final 16 line up, which is due to start next week.
Melanie has since given interviews saying that she found life in Miami tough, which could have affected her performance.
The blonde beauty told The Irish Herald: “Boot camp was hard, but the judges’ houses was much harder because there was so much pressure and emphasis on you the whole time — you have to do well. “Once we got there it was straight into pure work and four days of intense challenges. We had jetlag and no time to sleep — we were up every morning at half-six to get ready for the cameras. It was so hot over there during filming — we had to film certain scenes like 10 times and it was roasting — my make-up was melting off me,”
However although Melanie has made it through so far, rumours are rife that it may not all be lost. The end of Sundays show came with an announcement that there was to be a twist announced next week. Previous years have had a wild card round, with judges allowed to bring back an act that they previous rejected. Rumours are that Kelly has chosen to bring Melanie back for the live shows and so we may well see her on our screens next week. So tune in next Saturday to see whether Melanie made it!- fingers crossed that she did!
Melanie McCabe – Boot Camp
Boot camp this year was really tough with around 1/3 of the contestants being sent home before they even got to sing for the judging panel. However Melanie McCabe made it through to the singing portion of the audition at Wembley in front of an audience of thousands.
Dressed in a pretty red dress and with bright red lipstick she hit the stage like a lady with real determination. There can be no denying that Melanie is taking this competition seriously and does not want to get sent home.
The petite blonde singer choose to sing Michael Buble’s, Feeling Good and said before her audition “I’m a perfectionist… I always want my vocals to be perfect, my whole life is riding on this performance.” It seems that she didn’t disappoint with Gary Barlow confessing “She was note perfect”.
So with Melanie through to the next round the audience at home is sat waiting to see what this pretty little girl has to offer. She may only been a tiny, young thing but with vocal performances like that of her version of Feeling Good, you can easily see why she has gained the attention of judges and audiences alike.
Who Is Melanie Mccabe?
Melanie Mccabe first appeared on our screens as a shy 14 year old auditioning for the X Factor (before they pushed the audition date back up to 16!) back in 2008. The Irish girl impressed all of the judges and got the thumbs up from Simon Cowell, although it was ultimately Cheryl Cole who sent her home saying she wasn’t really.
New series, new judges and new Melanie – She once again flew over for X Factor auditions and this time got 4 thumbs up from the judges.
She auditioned and was recognised by Irish judge straight away – she sailed through to boot camp and is now one of the favourites to win the 8th series of The X Factor!

Melanie is a familiar face to many X Factor viewers as she was first shown on our screens back in 2008.
Back then she wowed the judges however they thought she was too young and not developed enough
